Volume published on the occasion of the exhibition “Tamara Ferioli. Vita”, Curated by Fabio Carnaghi, Officine dell’Immagine Gallery, Milan, 5 April – 20 May 2018.
The exhibition presents the recent research of the artist who experiences new approaches to his peculiar drawing practice.
The life title derives from the homophony and the homography of the Icelandic verb, which means to know, and the Italian term: Nature with its spontaneous architecture and its generative landscapes is expressed in a meeting of elements that cross all the works on display. Through a content and formal path, Ferioli explores a sapiens nature like a unknown land, totalizing and extreme, which propagates the cyclical time of existence in a cosmic and magmatic flow.
Mimicry, conservation, proliferation, survival and regeneration are themes of which the drawing traces ethereal bonds, canceling every taxonomic hierarchy. Animal and vegetable transmute into alchemical compositions helping to reveal a telluric dynamism, fertile of an arcane vital breath.
In mostra, A new corpus of works, who make use of the drawing with the use of pencils, Hair and applied paper, find out, almost in a practice of automatism, further dimensionality, ephemeral but vibral. The tract is associated with the overlap of levels that create perceptual gates in recalling a new metaphysical perspective. They, inspired by the scientific design of nature, It seems to describe a migration itinerary from an Atlas to a panic evocation in responding to an urgent dreamlike call. The white welcomes basaltic columns, plant germinations, fiori, Fish and crustaceans in the constant reminiscence of Icelandic iconography, Atlantic and volcanic.
The exhibition ends with an environmental installation consisting of sculptures made with Atlantic fish bones. Ferioli intervenes on the material of animal origin, Fishing processing waste, giving it a vegetable shape. Flowers, which are generated almost spontaneously, respect the exact interlocking structure in the sculptural process that organic matter offers, exploiting anatomical cavities and protrusions. The outcome of the sculptures reiterates the deep and metaphysical wisdom innate in nature, that the artist investigates with a patient and meticulous work. Each flower is therefore a fossil that crystallizes serial geometries and mathematical principles underlying biological systems in plastic forms.
