Clarity, essentiality, lightness are the attributes of Filippo La Vaccara's work. […]
Clarity is a quality that concerns the legibility and therefore the intelligibility of a work. There is nothing abstruse in painting as in La Vaccara's sculpture, complicated or inexplicable. What you see on the surface of his canvases or in the modeling of his heads is simple, clear, but by no means obvious. What you see is less than what there is, to allow the observer to bridge the gap between the visible and the invisible. The works of La Vaccara do not tell you everything, they don't tell you what you need to understand, in short, they are not didactic. This brings me to the second attribute of his work, essentiality, concerning something necessary, basic and fundamental. La Vaccara's work is pure synthesis. Nothing could be further from detailed realistic mimesis, but also from the wildest imagination without rules. Synthesis means saying the much that exists with a little ... making sure that the rest is up to you. You who look at the work.
