The Art of Matthew Farina is not born from images of known life, but by his attraction to figures, anonymous source. His portraits, in fact, taken from the web or newspaper pages, belong to unknown artist, but his introspective, moved to a design of plant mimetic, elevates them to the ancient nobility of the art of the portrait. No model, therefore, noble character to celebrate, but various subjects, largely old hoary, out of time, in a non-place that welcomes them, and many hands, also suspended in an abstract atmosphere. The desire of the artist seems, in the first instance, want to communicate with someone, with which he is prevented from speaking, with anonymous and hypothetical people met by chance, or with those who never meet. Suddenly, from those strange eyes, long scrutinized by the, sometimes lost in the void, other times pointed to the artist-investigator, design sees and reactivates the flow of life, nymph that eternal life which turns the eye in the window of the soul wide open to the light of the world, but also closed window, which retains the dark intimacy, protecting the interiority of thought.
