VILLAGE OF TASSONARLA, TRESANA (MS) | 31 July - 2 August 2026
From 31 July to 2 August 2026 the village of Tax it, in the Municipality of Tresana, will host the fifth edition of TassonArt: the widespread exhibition of contemporary art which this year brings the theme to the fore Terra. Soul and matter. An appointment that, over the years it has established itself as one of the most original cultural projects in the area capable of connecting art, landscape, community and critical reflection.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Friday 31 July at 17.15 and will wind along the entire village, transforming Tassonarla into an open-air exhibition space, where sculpture, painting, installation, performance and contemporary research, they enter into dialogue with the architecture of the village, nature and the memory of the Lunigiana community. Edition 2026 stands out for the presence of important international art personalities and for a program that interweaves exhibitions, training and in-depth study. After the inauguration, the talk with Angela Vettese titled New geographies of contemporary art, among the most authoritative voices of the contemporary art system, directly intercepts the very vision of TassonArt: the belief that the places on the margin are today among the most fertile for generating culture, thought and new forms of relationships, and that precisely in these spaces, it is possible to rethink the role of art and the places traditionally assigned to host it. TassonArt puts the village at the center as a living place, relational space and open cultural laboratory, where art does not limit itself to occupying a space but listens to its identity and amplifies its meaning. Because of this, the exhibition will remain can be visited freely throughout the month of August and by reservation on Fridays, under the guidance of the curators (give her 18.15).
Called to deal with the theme Terra, soul and matter the curators: Samantha Ghironi, Mattia Lapperier and Alessio Manfredi, they find a point of union, bringing together artists from generations, different origins and languages, united by the desire to question the relationship between the landscape, memory, identity with the ability to create new interconnections. Between them, the Maestro Kan Yasuda establishes himself as a presence of extraordinary importance among the most authoritative interpreters of contemporary sculpture, international reference figure for his search for harmony between form, matter and sharing of space. Next to him, Luciano Massari represents a significant voice of sculptural research: his works are placed in a borderline dimension between sensitive experience and spiritual reflection, making matter a tangible testimony of the profound connection that unites human beings to the earth and to their most intimate roots. Also strengthening the international dimension of the exhibition is the presence of Cynthia Sah, artist who uses marble creating shapes in synergy with the environment, which for years, opened in Seravezza Arkad Art Foundation together with the French sculptor Nicolas Bertoux, here author of research that combines plastic strength and contemporary sensitivity, generating forms that emerge from the Earth remaining suspended between nature and imagination.
Among the younger artists invited to this edition are Samantha Passaniti, which mixing the Tassonarla earth with other substances, he created works that talk about the relationship between humanity and the ecosystem, while in the video it extrapolates the audio (from whatsapp vocals) of the inhabitants of Tassonarla to give their voice back; Paolo Migliazza interpreter of a fragmented sculpture, essential, in which all the fragility of adolescence is perceived, brings back forgotten vibrations; then there is the South American gaze of Augustus Gadea, capable of uniting the natural Apennine lands with its material strength, creating a poetic and full-bodied dimension of painting; to return to sculpture with Seungwan Park, whose works although they seem to be made of a single block of marble, in reality they are composed of multiple pieces of marble and other materials, enriching his reflection on the border and universal wholeness.
The exhibition itinerary is completed with the presence of Simone Stuto whose contemporary painting rejoices in references and symbolic references to different iconographic traditions; with Sara Tonello, which explores stratification as a relationship between memory, space and matter; Alessandro Ratti who presents a work site-specific for TassonArt starting from a reflection on photographic memory and places; Federico Severino engaged in a search for atmospheres that dialogue with emotions; Julia Desogus present with engravings focused on the dialogue between nature, time and emptiness; and Marta Cornacchia, which bases its research on hibrid-art expressing themselves through biological installations, sculptural and environmental pieces with an intimate performative component, exhibiting interdisciplinary work that unites contexts site-specific and botanical investigation, understood as the seed of a profound cognitive and sensorial process.
Among the most anticipated events of TassonArt 2026 also the dialogue between contemporary art and theatre with the director Andrea Battistini who will guide the interpreters 365GRADIwishakespeare-Lab Massa in the performance Walk_in_Shakespeare scheduled for Saturday evening 1 August at 19.00. A project that arises from the encounter between the theatrical dimension and the exhibition itinerary of the widespread exhibition: the interpreters will accompany the public to discover the village and the works, creating an immersive journey into the atmospheres and visions of the Shakespearean world. Tassonarla will thus become a scenic space in which words, body, materia, light and imagination will enter into relationship with the artists' works, giving life to an experience capable of involving even those approaching contemporary art for the first time. Walk_in_Shakespeare represents a communion of intent between art and theatre: two different languages but united by the ability to question the human soul, generate emotions and build new ways of perceiving the village, as a narrating place where the visitor is not just a spectator but part of a shared experience. Also, TassonArt 2026 will also dedicate ample space to training and to active participation, with creative workshops aimed at different age groups starting from children, and the symposium of some students from the Artistic High School in the black for all three days of the event. A choice that does not represent a simple collateral program, but an essential part of the cultural vision of the project. Education in artistic expression should, in fact, start from a young age, so that the new generations are aware that art is not born from improvisation, but from a path of mental and cultural elaboration, from constant growth through study, experience, observation and comparison. Not by chance, the TassonArt program 2026 it will close Sunday 2 August with a second moment of public discussion dedicated to a reflection on the role of the artist of the future, in dialogue between art, society and new cultural perspectives. We will talk about it with the gallery owner Giovanni Bonelli, the director of ArtsLife Massimo Mattioli, the artist on display and former director of the Carrara Academy Luciano Massari, the curator Chiara Guidi, together with young artists of the collective Iron Bridge. A talk conceived as a comparison between different generations and skills, to return a plurality of visions on the future of art.
With its fifth edition, TassonArt confirms its vocation to be a cultural project aimed at the formation of new communities of the future, proactive and innovative, without forgetting the roots of identity. An experience that, starting from a village in Lunigiana, chooses to look at the contemporary as a space for research, of shared growth and the construction of new cultural geographies.
