Wood, clay and iron are the materials that make up Andrea Sanvittore's sculptures (Besana in Brianza, MB 1973) the, better to say, are the materials on which his works live, and through which they breathe. […]
The man, the only protagonist of the artistic production of Andrea Sanvittore, it is shown in whole or in some of its parts, never with the intention of returning a precise and exact image of his body structure, of his physiognomy or his expressions, but by providing a portrait that wants to be a visible trace and thought of the human being decoded by the artist.
Sanvittore's man is thus stripped of his corporeality, freed from all that is superfluous, to offer oneself solely in the image of the essence of oneself, of his inner thinking part, without worrying about appearing fragile or not being understood in his apparent and painful loneliness.
This is one of the reasons why Forte Strino hosts the works of Andrea Sanvittore this year: in his work he found the visual restitution of the truth of man, of his being also fragile and aimless, of its increasingly representing the uncertainty and instability of the era in which it lives.
