Nicola Nannini. If a winter night…

Volume published on the occasion of the exhibition Nicola Nannini. If on a winter night…, curated by Ivan Quaroni, presentata dalla galleria Area\B di Milano dal 29 January to 14 March 2026.

The solo show brings together around fifty unpublished works including oils on canvas, panel and drawings on paper – from small sizes of 30x30 cm up to large sizes of 100x100 cm – in a journey that transforms the Dolomites into a field of pictorial and mental investigation.

Virtual exhibition catalog, inspired by the famous novel If a traveler on a winter night by Italo Calvino, it alludes to a mental and fragmented journey, made up of pauses and restarts, of visions that are recomposed in painting as in a story through images.

In these works Nannini works on a double register, on the one hand like an artist observing from life, on the other as someone who rebuilds, almost by heart, a place that is also made of mental images, moods and impressions that painting collects and structures in a poetic vision.
