Asako Hishiki. Anima Errante Tamashii No Sanpo

Volume created on the occasion of the personal exhibition of the Japanese artist Asako Hishiki, edited by Matteo Galbiati and Raffaella Nobili, entitled “Wandering Soul A walk for the soul Tamashii no Sanpo”, set up at the Palazzo dei Principi – Pinacoteca Don Primo Mazzolari in Bozzolo from 16 May 21 June 2026, as a result of the Public Prize awarded as part of the exhibition “Rethinking space and time. XVI City of Bozzolo Award – X Biennial Don Primo Mazzolari” (edition 2023).

This anthological monograph, which summarizes Asako Hishiki's twenty years of research, returns the artist's poetics through seven thematic sections conceived as stages of an inner journey. The artist's light and suspended images, made with the traditional Japanese mokuhanga technique, they transform fabrics, papers and pigments in landscapes of the soul, where swallows, water, seasons and plant forms become symbols of passage, metamorphosis and belonging. Through critical texts and iconographic apparatus, the volume investigates a visual research capable of combining tradition and contemporaneity, East and West, in a poetic dimension of intense delicacy.
