Meet The Author

At seventy-four years old Claude Monet his last and monumental project was beginning: the panels for the Orangérie. On twelve majestic size canvases and for more than ten years, Monet worked on what we can call his artistic and spiritual testament: the Water lilies. In his Giverny garden, where every inch of land, of water and lawn was specially built to suit his painting, the artist has made his dream come true: the total fusion of art, color, nature and infinity.

The story of Monica Gorini (Domodossola, 1967 – lives and works between Milan and Lake Orta) it starts from the places Monet lived: yes Etretat, Honfleur, Le Havre e, obviously, Giverny. For two years Monica has ideally conversed with the Maestro on a long journey, geographical, botanical and artistic, full of emotions, of images, of research and discoveries that he enclosed in the pages of this diary, in an engaging narrative, fresh, immediate, rich in cultural and human references.

With water lilies in his eyes, Monet's painting in the heart and the desire for color in the head, Monica then sought her own artistic dimension by translating the “impressions” into a conceptual language. The target, then, it's not remaking Monet, paint the flowers or the landscape of Giverny, but to find, through the places of his painting, the "secret of color" and transform it into a sort of empirical law, in a personal encrypted system that encompasses nature, the soul and the psyche.
