Don't you know that you can't get out of the 1980s alive sang the Afterhours, a sort of warning linked to a specific historical period that has been a true watershed for the languages of art and beyond, forerunner and source of inspiration for future generations. Public Diary - the new solo show of Francesco Garbelli, edited by Francesca Di Giorgio, which takes place from 9 October 2021 to the 15 January 2022, in the spaces of La Giarina Arte Contemporanea in Verona - starts from one of the decades that today, at a distance, it can be viewed with clarity through the filter and the magnifying glass of the present.

The inspiration for Public Diary it is given by a substantial nucleus of works from the collection of the gallery owner Cristina Morato, attributable to the artist's early years of research and that, on show, it is related to more recent works through social issues, ecological, geopolitics… Extremely current and debated issues, oggi, but that Garbelli probed in years in which they had not at all imposed themselves on public attention and which makes him a true pioneer of Italian public and relational art.
