Volume published on the occasion of the exhibition “Tamara Ferioli. home island", a cura di Björg Stefánsdóttir, Yards of Image, Milan, 16 October – 22 November 2014.
I wonder if Tamara Ferioli's meeting and experience with Iceland can be considered a already seen. That's how it appeared to me. Not so much from a dream, rather from another life. It's like the deep contrasts of the Icelandic lands – the soft green grass and the hard volcanic rocks, the black sands and the glaciers, the lives of the inhabitants who are intertwined with it – had a strong impact on her. As she herself talks about it, not unexpectedly, if anything reassuring, a feeling of serenity towards something you know deeply even if you are seeing and experiencing it for the first time. Her obsession and attraction for Iceland suggests that she was enchanted by it.
I first saw Tamara in the West Fjords on her last visit to Iceland. She seemed out of breath, as if he had no further time to waste. We met in a small café, a few days before his Journey ended, he was doing research, exploring, discovering and seeking inspiration for his exhibition. After a hot cappuccino and a Belgian waffle, she had to run away. Like a sponge, that feeds on everything around it, letting everything flow and circulate inside it while capturing what gives it energy. They, in his own way, he took with him a piece of Iceland that I am sure he will cherish over time. The forces she found and pushed her to Iceland will convince her to return here, Surely.
