Meet The Author

Volume published on the occasion of the exhibition Simona Uberto. Fate Future, anthological exhibition 1996-2026, by Maria Laura Gelmini, 28 February – 22 March 2026, Arte bipielle, Lodi.

Each work by Simona Uberto is the result of complex work. It offers the observer more than a reflection, beyond mere curiosity, starting from the manufacturing process, as art, as ancient Greek thought teaches us, it is first his techne, that is, his ability to create the new, which through mimesis imitates reality, giving life to new possible worlds. Let us therefore first of all grasp the conceptual and processing effort: each work starts from a photographic shot and proceeds, after a series of interventions, with photo printing on metal plate, subsequently cut out and recomposed reaching the final shape. It is a work of research and precision, to which the artist dedicates total attention, to finally come out with an effective image and a title, key to understanding the work and his thought. But it is interesting to note how the exhibition surfaces in his eyes become a sort of fertile field on which to 'sow', that is, having a well-thought-out installation designed for each exhibition. In this way the works find their reason for being in the specific place. So, following the procedure suited to her and observing this extensive anthological exhibition for the thirty years of her work as a single work, the artist decides to title it with an auspicious expression, Fate Future, appealing to the evocative power of their images, those 'things of the future' that announce a mystery and a promise at the same time.
