As part of the Arteam Cup Award 2015, promoted by the Arteam Association, the Sabrina Raffaghello Arte Contemporanea gallery is pleased to exclusively host the personal exhibition entitled LONG ENOUGH which features the artist Giorgio Bormida, winner of the Special Prize supported by the same gallery.
Starting from a debut work The Mind, inside n. 14, belonging to a series of 2010 considered as the starting point of the artist's poetics, the exhibition develops around the most recent production, with the exposure of 17 works from the series LONG ENOUGH (2015). The point of contact between the two series is memory understood as a stratification of meanings that move from territories close to dreams but also from stories experienced or touched upon in the suggestion of a memory, which has also become memory.
Giorgio Bormida uses photography as a medium to move the threads of a scenic construction with a theatrical flavour, creating environments in which real elements taken from everyday life come together, images like crystallized moments of memory, multiple veils that open dreamlike scenarios.
«I understand photography as a painting or a stage: for me it is not the capture of a moment, but the superposition of images through a succession of veils that have the aim of merging them closely, in such a way that the final result suggests the memory of a suggestion, an emotional state. The overlap, in conclusion, as a copy of memory processes".
