Stefania Loreto was born in Genoa in 1972 and lives and works in Albenga, where he teaches at the Giordano Bruno High School.
After having trained at the Santa Dorotea Art School and at the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa, he completed his studies with a Master's degree in Drawing and Art History at the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (Spain).
His printmaking practice combines traditional intaglio techniques with an ingenious and sustainable use of Tetra Pak as a matrix, reinterpreting drypoint in a contemporary key. The internal aluminum surface of the recovered material becomes a support for engraving, allowing a refined modulation of the sign and chiaroscuro through the variation of pressure. The intaglio printing process - from inking to manual cleaning - gives the works a strong material quality and transforms the technical procedure into an unprecedented expressive gesture full of poetic tension.
