Nataly Maier
Nataly Maier born in 1957 in Munich (Germany). In 1978, I completed my studies in Philosophy at the Leibniz Kolleg in Tübingen, attended the Münchner Fotoschule in Munich until 1980. Since the end of the 1980s he has dedicated himself to overcoming two-dimensional photography, applying some images on three-dimensional supports to re-attribute a plastic value. His first solo exhibition in 1992 it is at the L'Attico Gallery in Rome.
In 1994 he is among the founders – with the artists Giuliana Di Bernardo, Ghislaine Of Montaudouin – of the group Action Imageante through which, maintaining a collaboration until 1995, participates in various organized exhibitions, between Italy and France, in former churches, castelli, buildings, abbeys. For this project the interventions, always accompanied by those of a guest artist, they are specifically developed with the intention of moving away from the classic dimension of the "white cube"., so, in close dialogue and relationship with the specificities of the different places that welcome them. From 2002 In his research, boundaries emerge that increasingly welcome the use of painting as a privileged language in which he always focuses on the expressive power of color. In 2001 installs sculpture of a large lemon for the exhibition Homage to a longing at the Roman Villa in Florence. In 2010-2012 gets a scholarship to the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle (Ireland). The Antonio and Carmela Calderara Foundation of Vacciago di Ameno (NO) hosts in 2015 his personal one Pregnancy of color. Collaborations with Antonella Cattani Contemporary Art of Bolzano follow; Artesilva of Seregno (MB); New Morone Gallery in Milan; Soeffker Gallery dell’Hamline University a St. Paul, Minneapolis (Minnesota, USA). In 2020 publishes his monograph with Vanillaedizioni, curated by Matteo Galbiati, titled Nataly Maier. Painting Paths 1990-2020. In 2022 she is invited by Elena di Raddo to the exhibition Abstract, Women and Abstraction in Italy 1930-2000 to Villa Olmo to Como.
