Ilaria Feoli

Ilaria Feoli was born in Avellino. His artistic training took shape during his years of study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples where he obtained the First Level Academic Diploma in Painting and then the Second Level Academic Diploma in Photography as a Language of Art. His artist research, exhibited in national and international contexts, it is mainly analogue and experimental. In silver salts he finds the poetics and ancient essence of a "fertile soil" in which to cultivate his idyllic themes, gothic and nostalgic. His negatives become a manipulated and material surface. On every emulsion, a trace of time, a matrix like a “lawn”, a “fabric” to remember. His photography is conceptual and installational, it is no coincidence that the silver salts placed on paper are often accompanied by the presence of objects, fiori, doilies, embroidery and poetic verses. Every single element recalls nature, muse of the artist, a nature that is fragile but strong at the same time, where current issues, such as the climate emergency and the desire to safeguard nature itself from the presence of man, they are veiled and enhanced by these vegetal elements which elegantly make space among the photographs and self-portraits. Nature is "home" for her, the “place” where you can stay forever, like in a dream, as if in a suspended time. Everything is perfect in these parallel worlds in which the artist welcomes the observer, everything smells of lilies in bloom, jasmines cover every surface and hydrangeas spread into wonderful bushes. A nineteenth-century and poetic natural cradle, this is the fine and delicate research of Ilaria Feoli, a "spring" research recited every time as a "fragile and delicate romantic literature".
