Franco Belsole
In 1990 he began working with photography, collaborating with cultural operators and artists, creating artistic documentation.
In 1991 wins a scholarship at the Civitella D'Agliano International Project founded by the art critic Filiberto Menna, where he has the opportunity to meet and collaborate with artists from the top international scene.
In 1992 he exhibited in a group show with painters and sculptors at the Palazzo d'Alessandri in Viterbo. He deepens his photographic language in line with the documentary tendency of the Düsseldorf school of spouses Bernd and Hilla Becher, while maintaining his very personal style.
In 1993 he begins to create works on metropolises such as Paris, Monaco, London, Helsinki, Berlin.
It is within the scope of Photogrammatica, the international photography exhibition in Rome, than in 1993 he was awarded the Sebastiano Oschmann Gradenico Young Roman Photographers Award.
In 1994 he is in New York where he meets and exchanges experiences with the American art scene.
In 1997 he is a finalist for the Flash Art Museum modern art award.
In 1998 wins the first critics' prize at the International Biennial of Photography at the Trevi Flash Art Museum.
Realize Streets, a job on the streets of New York, from which a book will also be released, presented subsequently to the personal exhibition in the AOCF58 gallery in Rome.
In 2002 he is in Philadelphia where he creates Market Street, a job concentrated on one of the main roads and streets of Philadelphia.
He was born in 2006 the photo book Taxi stop with dedication, La Camera Verde Edition.
In 2007 wins first prize in the national contemporary art competition "Saturarte" in Genoa.
He was born in 2013 the photo book PARIS 2010 presented at the Laure Roynette Gallery in Paris.
Numerous personal and collective exhibitions follow and he is present in international exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His works are part of private and public collections.
A central component in Franco Belsole's work is the interest and attention towards anonymity in large metropolises, contemplating the position of the individual in architectural dynamism and symbolism, cultural and anthropological in Western societies.
The individual, taken in spaces or non-places in any metropolis, becomes the protagonist in large and medium format installations and diptychs presented in galleries and architectural places which consequently take on a role as a container for the work.
From the perspective of video art we are witnessing a construction of shooting that focuses on the effect of slowing down, like in the movie WHAT AM I the 2015, entirely shot in Paris, whose theme supports the photographic work and caresses the theme of existentialism in contemporary society.
