Edoardo Cialfi

(1993, Marsciano – PG)

First level diploma in Painting and visual arts at LABA in Florence.
Two-year specialist course in Painting-Atelier Direction Cultural Mediation of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona.

His journey began as a writer in 2008, year in which he began using the aerosol medium. However, it is in the academic field that he decided to move his research from wall surfaces to more traditional surfaces, like canvas, board or cardboard.

He began to dedicate himself to the reinterpretation of archetypal pictorial languages, precisely to the genre of landscape, while maintaining strong contact with its origins, creating his aerosol works.

His reinterpretation of landscape painting is not simply an aesthetic operation. There are two areas, fogs and storms, with which he investigates two different concepts.

The mists are the means with which he attempts to represent isolation, the insecurity and consequent disorientation that characterizes contemporary humanity.

Storms are instead the means by which he analyzes the concept of nature as a threat, autonomous body, impartial, capable of being adverse to human existence.

The threat is formalized by him not in the triggering of the event, but in the moments preceding it, where the event is still distant, but inexorably it heads towards the observer. It is in these moments of suspension, where there is a perception of danger, but the catastrophe has not yet occurred, that the sense of threat occurs.

Another reason why he chose to reinterpret landscape painting is that it is an essential part of the collective imagination, therefore fundamental structure of identity.

They wrote about him: Eugenia Vanni, Giorgio Bonomi, Davide Silvioli, Lorenzo Fiorucci, Chiara Canali, Matteo Galbiati.
