Davide Maria Coltro

Davide Maria Coltro, Verona 1967, lives and works between Milan and Lake Maggiore.
His artistic research uses technology with unprecedented architectures that modify the criteria of creation, dissemination and use of art. The result of this study, started in the late nineties, is an unprecedented digital relational eco-system that the author uses as a platform for the development and dissemination of his electronic painting, visible thanks to the media pictures. The Media Picture responds to a current historical cultural vision and releases the evocative power of the traditional picture, continuing its evolution. The relationship with the history of art and the genres of painting are the cornerstones of Coltro's research which defines his works as "painting beyond matter".
In recent years he has begun a course of theological studies with the desire to feed his own artistic path through reflection on the relationship of man with the fundamental themes of human existence. Experimentation in digital art led him to formulate the concept of Modal Tuning on which he is developing a theoretical text.
In 2011, invited to the Venice Biennale curated by Bice Curiger, presented a monumental installation centered on the landscape. His works have been exhibited in museums and public institutions including: Museum of Modern Art - Mosca, Hem Loft Project - St.Pietroburgo, ZKM - Karlsruhe, Urban Planing Center - Shanghai, Pecci Museum - lawn, Farnesina collection - Rome, MART - Rovereto, Civic Gallery - Trent, BRAND - Catanzaro, Francesco Messina Museum Study - Milan. The Media Paintings and Digital Paintings are part of permanent public and private collections including: GAM Achille Forti - Verona, VAF Foundation - Frankfurt, MACI Museum - Isernia, Contemporary Sacred Art Gallery - Milan, Panza di Biumo collection - Varese, Ezio Mariani Civic Gallery - Seregno, Young Museum - Revere, UNICREDIT collection - Milan, Gasc, Paul VI Collection - Brescia.
