Angelo Molinari

Angelo Molinari was born in Ameno (NO) in 1956, where he still lives and works. He completed his artistic studies at the State Art Institute of Venice and the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino.
Since he was a student he has exhibited in various collective and personal exhibitions; among the most important of this first exhibition period we remember “PATMOS” (Blacksmith's Hall, Urbino 1983) and “The Coup on the Landing” (Modern Gallery, Bologna 1982). At the Academy he met the Chinese master Hsiao Chin who introduced him to oriental painting.
His painting has examined various visual languages, from photography to photo-reproduction with pictorial interventions, up to the latest abstract-gestural research. He has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions, both personal and collective, in Italy and abroad. In 1990 he exhibits at the Spriano Gallery in Omegna, it was the beginning of a long collaboration and friendship that continues today. From 2014 collaborates with the Weber gallery in Turin.
Molinari's latest material research sees his abstract gesture spread over layers of transparent plastic sheets, breaking down the depths by physically spaced planes. Among his most recent solo exhibitions we remember “In the beginning was the gesture” (Hus space, Milan 2019), “Colour code” (Cristina Moreregola Gallery, Bust Arsizio 2016) and “The Sign of Black” (MEB Art-Study, Borgomanero).
They wrote about him: Mariano Apa, Brenda Bacigalupo, Giorgio Caione, Luciano Caprile, Loredana Carena, Claudio Cerritelli, Francesca Gattoni, Lorella Giudici, Friedrich Wilhelm Heckmanns, Elisabetta Longari, Giulio Martinoli, Dino Marangon, Paolo Iacchetti, Fausta Squatritti, Elena Ginanneschi Arnaldi, Paolo Giuseppe Saporiti and Miklos Varga.
